Worried about future freight operating costs?

A £20,000 fund is available from Transport Scotland’s Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Market Readiness Fund to help Scottish hauliers and SMEs plan their decarbonisation, including support for consultants to assess zero-emission vehicle technologies and infrastructure. There is also a separate £5,000 – £20,000 per year funding from The Robertson Trust for community transport organisations, though this is for general running costs and not specifically a freight fund.

Why this matters

The road to zero-emission HGVs is coming fast. Regulations, infrastructure changes, and customer expectations are reshaping the haulage industry. This grant-funded support will help you understand:

·       Which technologies and vehicles best suit your operations.

·       When and how to transition your routes and depots.

·       Infrastructure and energy needs for your future fleet.

·       Funding and financing models to make the switch affordable.

What you'll get

With Transport Scotland funding, you’ll receive a bespoke report tailored to your fleet. It will give you:

·       A short, medium, and long-term decarbonisation roadmap.

·       Practical recommendations based on your fleet’s data and operations.

·       Independent expert advice to guide your investment decisions.

·       A clear business case for your board, customers, and funders.

·       Hauliers in Scotland.

·       Operating 50 HGVs or fewer in total.
