Study Description

The Jupiter Artlands project attracts over 100,000 visitors per annum supporting access by sectors of the community to high quality artworks and exhibitions. The site wished to redevelop its offering by including a larger indoor exhibition area, café and a new microbrewery / distillery that will market Jupiter Artlands own brand whisky and vodka. Located on the boundary between City of Edinburgh and West Lothian Councils, we supported the developments ambition through preparation of access design, Transport Statements and travel plans

Our Approach

Working with the site, we obtained visitor data and utilised this to assist in forecasting future development potential using a ‘first principles’ approach. We evaluated the developments likely impact and how to accommodate the sites walking and cycling credentials through better integration with the local network.

Key Successes

• Comprehensive Transport Statement developed into Transport Assessment reflecting outcome drive approach.
• Advice and direction to the design team to value add to client.
• Use of local data to form the evidence base for future trip forecasts.
